Description
The City of Richmond Department of Public Works is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Accountant, Senior. The incumbent is to provide accounting functions and financial management and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The incumbent is responsible for reconciling funds and accounts in the assigned area of responsibility, reviewing expenditures, performing analysis, preparing financial reports, and tracking revenue.
Duties include but are not limited to
- Preparing journal vouchers and re-class invoices
- Preparing monthly SEFA Report
- Tracking and recording revenue for Capital Improvement Projects
- Preparing deposit forms
- Maintaining the projects and awards module in Oracle for department, by creating new projects, budgeting/transferring funds for projects, and reconciling project/awards balances
- Analyzing and verifying monthly Lead Schedule expenses/revenue for the special fund
- Conducting annual inventory of assets for the department
- Preparing reconciliations related to fixed assets and the CWIP Schedule
- Creating/updating standard operating procedures as needed
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or training and education equivalent to four years of college education
- Five years of journey-level professional accounting experience such as financial forecasting, reconciliation of statements and accounts, and supervision of an accounting unit performing payroll, cashiering, or payables/receivables processing
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least three (3) years of experience using RAPIDS and EIS
- At least three (3) years of experience using OnBase
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- None required
