Job Summary
The position is responsible for payable and receivable functions in the accounting department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Generates and mails monthly billings for programs.
- Assists with daily deposits as directed.
- Works with programs to retrieve data for accurate and timely billings.
- Sets up new accounts and provides account maintenance for designated programs.
- Enters billing for programs, including charges and payments, in all appropriate accounting software.
- Prints claim forms and reviews for accuracy.
- Enters and posts program subsidies, adjustments, and write-offs to sub-ledger.
- Reconciles clients' preauthorization numbers for assigned accounts.
- Updates client accounts by closing inactive accounts.
- Prepares, generates, and follows up on insurance claims and denials.
- Provides follow-up for past due accounts, collecting necessary information to re-file claims and contacting appropriate agencies.
- Assists clients in resolving billing questions and concerns.
- Generates reports on services and rates for budgeting purposes.
- Generates monthly program receivable reports and reviews for accuracy.
- Assists with a timely month-end close.
- Follows guidelines of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in handling and releasing clients' personal information and billing records.
- Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.
- Utilizes basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other automated systems.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required with three years of related experience.
