In this role, you will play a crucial part in changing lives through the power of music by offering administrative and logistical support to various stakeholders within the Symphony.
What will be your responsibilities? As the Artistic Assistant, your tasks will include managing schedules, itineraries, and travel arrangements for the Music Director, guest artists, soloists, and conductors. You will also provide essential support to the Richmond Symphony Chorus by handling communication, rehearsal planning, administration, and music preparation and distribution.
Your day-to-day work may involve activities such as coordinating artist travel and accommodations, organizing music and rehearsal plans for the Chorus, assisting with guest artist arrivals, balancing the Music Director's schedule between rehearsal needs and donor/community events, processing invoices, and tracking expenses to budget. In the evenings, you will often find yourself attending Chorus rehearsals or Symphony performances, offering your support to the Artistic & Operations team.
What qualifications and skills are necessary? You must be committed to our core values, which include welcoming, passion, innovation, inclusivity, and quality. Proficiency in computer applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, and Google Calendar is essential. Familiarity with computer systems, information technology, and WordPress would be a valuable asset.
Highly developed time management, organizational, written, and oral communication skills, combined with flexibility and the ability to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously, act with discretion, and connect with a diverse group of people, are all desirable traits.
What about compensation and benefits? This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $32,000, plus overtime. Benefits encompass health, dental, tele-medicine, vision, disability, and instrument insurances, a flexible spending or health savings account, company holidays, sick and vacation time off, free parking, and a 403(b) plan. A combination of in-person and remote work is possible, but your presence and active participation at evening and/or weekend concerts, events, and other activities are expected.
