Chesterfield County Public Library (CCPL) is currently hiring for a part-time with benefits Automation Analyst to work on the Technology Management team.
In this 24 hour per week position, the Automation Analyst will:
- Maintain library database integrity and reliability.
- Perform day-to-day maintenance and support of library database and other library information systems and hardware.
- Consults with users to diagnose, investigate and resolve computer software and hardware issues, particularly as these issues relate to the library database.
- Analyze current functionality of software and procedures and recommend improvements to efficiency and effectiveness.
- Consult with vendors and the County IT department for technical support.
- Develop and conduct training in the use of computer systems and software for library staff.
- Participate in the research and evaluation of new and enhanced software and hardware products.
- Provide library network support including backups, upgrade installations, troubleshooting, and emergency issues.
- Perform daily, monthly and annual reports associated with library database and other library information systems.
- Travel (less than 4 hours/week) to all branch locations when remote troubleshooting is not sufficient.
- Perform other work as required.
Qualifications
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business administration or a related field
- Two years of experience in the technical support of business information systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Previous work experience in a library technology management department preferred.
- Working knowledge of general concepts of computer technology and related software.
- Specific database support and maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Ability to document automation processes and procedures.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation within the preceding thirty-six months.
- Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
- Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
