The HR Benefits Associate provides expertise and assistance in the operations of providing employee benefits to the City. This role ensures compliance with city programs and practices, managing benefit processes, data entry, customer service, maintaining accuracy in systems, handling confidential transactions, reviewing data, and supporting various employee benefits and wellness plans. It involves administrative work, front-line customer service, and decision-making using functional resources.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):
- Administrative support for assigned benefit plans ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Providing customer service support to current and former associates and employees.
- Managing reporting, administrative functions, files, eligibility, contributions, and reconciliation.
- Coordinating programs, managing projects, and preparing necessary documentation.
- Data analysis and reporting using HRIS systems, maintaining complex MS Excel spreadsheets.
- Communicating updates to associates, preparing and submitting reports and documents.
- Providing backup support, assisting with special projects, and ensuring benefit program compliance.
Qualifications, Certifications, and Requirements:
- 3+ years of HR experience with a minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of benefits administration, strong customer service focus, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, in a team, maintain confidentiality, and excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HR certifications preferred, and City of Richmond community awareness.
