The Peace Operations Training Institute is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Bookkeeper and Office Administrator. This is a full-time role responsible for managing the budget and day-to-day operations of the organization. The Peace Operations Training Institute (POTI) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Virginia. It focuses on developing and distributing online training material for peace operations personnel and humanitarian relief workers worldwide.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain ongoing accounting records of Institute funds, including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking transactions.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for human resources matters, including preparing onboarding documents, managing insurance, withholding taxes, and handling travel arrangements.
  • Maintain a working relationship with a designated Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and collaborate closely during the preparation of yearly tax returns.
  • Manage monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with bank personnel, office landlord, and miscellaneous vendors to ensure the organization's staff and general needs are met.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online Advanced is required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in accounting or financial management.
  • Experience in office management and human resources, including payroll, insurance, withholding taxes, liaising with bank personnel, and coordinating with vendors.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential and non-routine information with sensitivity.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment while remaining flexible.
