Position Overview: 


The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.


Requirements for Hire:

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.

Requirements for continued employment:

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.

Experience:

  • One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • No work experience required if a graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Previous experience in an academic health care environment.

Education/Training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education/Training:

  • Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as CAAHEP or ABHES.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem-solving.
  • Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to, and/or contact with medications and related supplies.

Additional Requirements:

  • Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
  • Schedules may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting 20-50 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).

Mental/Sensory:

  • Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speak clearly, write legibly, reading, logical thinking.

Emotional:

  • Fast-paced environment, able to handle multiple priorities, adaptable to frequent change.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, Day shift.
