As a vital member of the City of Richmond's Homeless Services team within the Office of Human Services, the Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting unsheltered families. The primary focus is on assisting them in navigating city services and resources, facilitating their path to stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Develop a comprehensive strategy to destigmatize homelessness and increase education and awareness of city services and resources.
- Regularly attend neighborhood and civic association meetings to strengthen community relationships.
- Create outreach events designed to support unsheltered residents and destigmatize homelessness.
Family Services Coordination:
- Assist unsheltered residents, especially families, in connecting with services and resources for their path to stability.
- Work closely with the Homeless Services Liaison to address inquiries related to homelessness.
- Collaborate across the City of Richmond's Human Services portfolio to support unsheltered residents.
Human Services Community Resource and Training Center:
- Assist in establishing and launching the Human Services Community Resource and Training Center.
- Serve as an essential member of the center staff.
General Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Greater Richmond Continuum of Care and participate in relevant committees.
- Support the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Human Services in managing shelter contracts.
- Assist in the implementation and oversight of the city's inclement weather shelter community impact and mitigation strategy.
- Provide strategic thought leadership on strategies to address homelessness in the City of Richmond.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, or a related field.
- Four years' experience in human services or a directly related field, including substantial experience presenting information or facilitating workshops.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
