The Richmond City Council is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the role of Council Liaison, dedicated to supporting the 9th District City Council member. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in supporting the elected Council member, fostering communication among various stakeholders, including Council members, City agency staff, constituents, and the public.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing comprehensive support to the elected Council member.
- Facilitating communication among different offices and stakeholders.
- Handling public and media relations tasks, program development, and statistical analyses.
- Researching, developing, and tracking legislation.
- Representing the Council member at meetings and civic/community events.
- Supervising interns and volunteers.
- Creating district newsletters, communications, and maintaining databases.
- Conducting research for reports and proposals.
Key Duties:
- Serving as a liaison between the Council member and officials/citizens.
- Facilitating communication for program/project development and execution.
- Assisting the Council member in various official duties.
- Maintaining records of Council member projects and priorities.
- Researching legislation and other developments.
- Making presentations on behalf of City Council and the district.
- Planning special events and district communications.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business management, public administration, or a related field.
- Two years of public service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Public Administration (MPA) or Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
- Prior experience within local, state, or federal government.
- Experience representing an elected official at community and business meetings.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in various systems and applications for daily tasks.
