WNRN, a public radio station based in Charlottesville, seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Development Assistant to join our team. The Development Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Development Department with a wide range of tasks related to fund drives, volunteer management, communications, donor relations, special events coordination, and grant research. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be comfortable with database management, and have the ability to work collaboratively with others.
Key Responsibilities: Manage sending out all thank you gifts, scheduling and supervision of volunteer staff for fund drives, assist with member communication through weekly email, maintain and develop sustaining memberships through direct interaction and one-on-one support. Run reports as needed, assist with special events coordination and administration including on-site participation in station events. Assist with preparation of fundraising and prospect packages. Assist with grant research, major donor prospecting, and Salesforce database, ensuring donor information is correct and up-to-date.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field. 
    • 1-3 years of experience in a development or fundraising role, excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. 
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
    • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed. 
    • Availability to occasionally travel within Virginia as needed. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, with experience in Salesforce or other donor management software preferred.
