General Description: 

The Director of School Board Audit Services provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services that strengthen governance, improve operations, and protect public trust.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, administer, and review internal audit activities for the School Board.
  • Prepare an annual audit plan aligned to governance priorities.
  • Evaluate accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Provide audit reports and recommendations; track corrective actions.
  • Meet with district leadership and the Audit/Finance Committee.
  • Attend School Board meetings and present findings.
  • Supervise and evaluate audit staff.
  • Coordinate with departments and external auditors.
  • Conduct special investigations as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of progressive auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of governmental auditing, controls, and reporting.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive audits and present board-ready reports.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Preferred: CIA, CPA, CGAP, CISA, CFSA.
