The Classroom Hardware Technician and Instructor will work with the Deputy Director of Children’s Programming to maintain all technology utilized by Eureka Workshop programs. The Hardware Technician and Instructor will also provide up-to-date, organized, and accessible hardware and software for all of Eureka Workshop’s commitments. Through the organization, maintenance, and implementation of established procedures, the Hardware Technician and Instructor will ensure that the technology used by Eureka Workshop’s programs is in working order. This position also includes classroom Instructor responsibilities for Eureka Workshop programming.


Job Responsibilities

  • Teach Eureka Workshop classes and lead event-based activities both on and off-site, in-person and virtually
  • Support instructors when needed in preparation for upcoming activities/events
  • Work with Lead Instructor to research and provide fresh classroom content for all curricula
  • Participate in “Lab” style classes where Eureka instructors (or community partners) test out new lesson plans and activities
  • Assist the Deputy Director of Children’s Programs in the training of new staff members, community partners, and specialized volunteers who will be delivering classroom content
  • Participate in training sessions that provide community partners with Eureka Workshop curricula
  • Meet weekly with the Deputy Director of Children’s Programs to discuss upcoming and current technology maintenance, updates, and inventory
  • Assist all staff, students, and stakeholders in understanding proper care and use of Eureka workshop’s technology
  • Assist the IT Technician in re-imaging all computers as needed.
  • Mark any faulty hardware for further review and assist the Deputy Director of Children’s Programs or the IT Technician in reviewing faulty hardware
  • Maintain records of student-created accounts
  • Work with Partnership Coordinator and Lead Instructor to maintain and manage an active log of technology needs for all Eureka Workshop scheduled classes and events
  • Assist all instructors (Eureka classroom instructors, teaching artists, and robotics instructors and volunteers) with any software or hardware assistance they may need to be successful in the classroom
  • Maintain organized storage of all technology including all cords, adaptors, and robotics tools
  • Perform additional tasks as needed

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Education, Computer Science, Studio or Performing Art or a related field OR similar work experience 
    • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a formal or Out-of-School-time educational settings 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, and Google-based office applications 
    • A strong commitment to community service, in particular through public education
