Goochland Pet Lovers (GPL) is a 501(c)3 advancing animal welfare in our rural community. In a unique public/private partnership with Goochland County, GPL supports the animals in the Goochland County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center through financial support. In addition, we take care of our community pets by providing vet care to residents who reside at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. We are also starting an Education Initiative to reach out to our community regarding pet care.


Established in 2016, GPL has surpassed several key milestones and is continuing on a positive trajectory of growth and collaborations. Our mission reads: In partnership with Goochland County, Goochland Pet Lovers promotes animal welfare through financial support, innovative programs and community engagement.


Goochland Pet Lovers is seeking a part-time Executive Administrator to manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. The Executive Administrator will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Board of Directors who provide hands-on direction. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual who has a passion for our mission and can manage multiple priorities and work at the direction of the Chair.


The position reports to the Chair of the Board and works closely with all board members as well as the staff at the Goochland County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. The successful candidate will be a problem solver and will play a key role in keeping GPL progressing and in good standing with the community.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Treasurer to provide weekly bookkeeping including maintaining Quickbooks Online, processing invoices, making payments and tracking donations
  • Retrieving/managing the mail and making bank deposits
  • Monitor and manage Emails and phone messages daily
  • Update and maintain Bloomerang, GPL’s donor database, send tax letters and thank you notes
  • Publish to social media including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Update and manage the website
  • Schedule meetings and secure meeting locations as needed
  • Inventory and order office and program supplies
  • Attend Board meetings, committee meetings and events as requested
  • Support the Board on special projects as needed
Required Qualifications:



  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and experience with Quickbooks Online. Experience with Bloomerang or similar CRM, Canva, and Constant Contact a plus.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail
  • Independently motivated to accomplish the tasks at hand
  • Previous experience with social media
  • Ability to work with others and take direction while offering solutions to issues that arise
  • Outstanding written and oral communication
  • This person will work approximately 25 hours per week. Pay is $20-25/hour dependent on experience.
