Description

 

The Department of Parks Recreation and Community Facilities is seeking a highly qualified and energetic candidate to fill the position of Facility and Program Supervisor in the Recreation Division. This position will report to a Recreation Program Supervisor. This position supervises the daily operations of a recreation facility including front desk operations, staff management, and logistics for the recreational, social, and special event programs provided by each center.

 

Duties include but are not limited to

 

  • Overseeing and training facility staff on building operations, customer service and other training as needed.
  • Supervising staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures, and tracking attendance.
  • Coordinating the daily facility schedule, including working with the permits division to schedule partner programs and external rentals.
  • Overseeing registration and payments for programs, processing receipts and revenues; maintaining and entering financial data and preparing reports.
  • Overseeing facility supplies and inventory.
  • Ensuring program information displayed on-line is accurate and up to date.
  • Monitoring operations in the facility to ensure safety and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • 3 years of recreation program experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet minimum qualifications of the classification.
  • Proficient computer skills (particularly in Microsoft Office and a Recreation Management Software System such as RecTrac or similar)

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Associate’s or higher degree in Parks and Recreation, Sport Management, Education, Business Administration, or a similar field.
  • 3 or more years experience working with community centers and external partners
  • Demonstrated evidence of successful planning and implementation of a variety of recreational and leisure programs and events.

The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly work with one's fingers, talk, see, hear, use repetitive motions, stand, and reach; frequently walk, lift, grasp, balance; and occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and feel. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be light work (exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects), but may differ based on area of focus. The working conditions may contain environmental hazards, depending on area of focus.
