Job Duties
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a full time Facility Services Associate Night Supervisor.
VMFA is a state-supported, privately endowed educational institution created for the benefit of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Its purpose is to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret art, to encourage the study of the arts, and thus to enrich the lives of all.
This position reports to the Facility Services Manager and is part of our Facility Services team. Candidates should be hard-working, self-motivated, high energy team players who are prepared to work in a fast paced, physical environment. They should be able to switch gears based on changing priorities and be able to work independently.
This is a non-exempt position that includes various Commonwealth of Virginia employee benefits such as paid time off, health coverage, and a minimum of twelve paid state holidays per year.
Duties include:
Supervise the Facility Services Associate staff.
Oversee set-up and break down of special events.
Inspect the work of the Facility Services Associates.
Train staff on operating new equipment.
Inspect closets and equipment; report needed repairs and order needed equipment.
Coordinate staff schedules for both shifts; making sure all areas and Special Events are covered.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent customer service, writing and communication skills are required. The use of tact, diplomacy, and discretion with museum members, event attendees and staff is essential.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Knowledge of safety practices in using chemicals and cleaning equipment.
Working skills in the operation of power cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and vacuums.
Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks, to lift and move heavy objects, to give and receive instructions, and to read and write.
Additional Considerations
Previous Supervisor experience preferred.
Required to work one weekend a month 7pm -7am to complete floor maintenance and restroom inspections and document those inspections on inspector’s checklist provided.
Carpet care, Floor maintenance, Restroom Detailing, Miscellaneous Projects.
Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday 4pm to12am, however one weekend a month will be required to work Saturday 7 pm - Sunday 7am, (once a month).
