NextUp RVA (“NextUp”) is a fast-paced, innovative, and growing nonprofit organization powered by a network of providers and leaders with a common commitment to ensuring youth have access to quality learning opportunities beyond the classroom. NextUp believes that when young people participate in high-quality enrichment programs, they benefit in tremendous ways – socially, physically, and academically. NextUp RVA is dedicated to making out-of-school time and high-quality expanded-learning programs more accessible for youth, especially middle-school aged youth. We do this by coordinating efforts and resources, knitting programs together into a cohesive system, helping individual programs function at a high level, and pushing the system to provide the greatest benefit to as many young people as possible.
The Director of Finance serves as a senior organizational leader, controller and strategic partner to the CEO managing, strengthening, and refining the financial model and operations of the organization. Duties include: financial management, budget management, committee management, and insurance, payroll management. This position will supervise a bookkeeper.
The position is an exempt, 25-30 hour position.
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, CPA strongly preferred.
- A minimum of five years of related work experience required including experience with a not for profit. Grant experience a plus.
- Strong project management skills including demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate several activities at one time.
- Solid computer literacy in Microsoft Office and database management required; experience with QuickBooks preferred.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills required.
- Understanding of network administration and integration.
- Able to interact with board members and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral skills and attention to detail.
- Successfully complete pre-employment background screening.
