Role Overview:
The Financial Regulatory Specialist, Senior, serves as a lead worker, overseeing work assignment and completion monitoring. Responsibilities encompass assessment and collection of individual, real estate, and personal property taxes, along with operational and financial oversight for the City's property taxes. Incumbents handle various tasks related to City and State tax law violations, including complex investigations into financial criminal activities against the City.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting assessments, consulting with peers, and reviewing public and legal records.
- Communicating with taxpayers in person, via phone, or in writing.
- Handling tax payments, reconciling accounts, and investigating delinquent taxes.
- Generating revenue, preparing tax refunds, and ensuring compliance with tax codes.
- Providing customer service and compiling financial/statistical data.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Basic accounting principles and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Dealing with delinquent collections and communication with various departments.
- Performing data entry and executing good customer service.
- Reviewing and examining real estate, business, and personal property filings.
- Documenting business processes, multitasking, and paying attention to detail.
- Following directions, working independently, and thinking critically.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate's degree in business, accounting, or related field (Bachelor's preferred).
- Two years of paraprofessional account support experience.
- Equivalent training/experience as approved by the department.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Special Requirements:
- Some positions may require a Firearms Permit and Special Police certification.
