The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is offering an exciting full-time opportunity for a Horticulturist. The selected candidate will play a key role in the maintenance, care, improvement, and overall appearance of the Museum's grounds and Sculpture Garden.
Responsibilities:
- Installation and Maintenance of Plant Life in Museum’s Sculpture Garden and around its Campus.
- Support the museum’s commitment to quality customer service by applying professional talents, knowledge, and skills to the museum campus and statewide partnership network.
- Oversight of the grounds volunteer team and mentoring of other full-time grounds staff.
- Grounds Related Contract Administration.
- Maintenance of Irrigation Systems on Museum Campus.
- Maintenance of Sculpture Garden Water Fountains and Water Garden.
- Inclement Weather / Snow Removal.
- Clean up after storms.
- Garden maintenance after special events.
- Budget and Purchasing - Contribution to Small, Women, and Minority (SWaM) business goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current pesticide applicators license.
- A minimum of 3 years in horticulture, garden management, or landscape maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in horticulture or landscape maintenance/construction.
- Experience managing garden installation projects in a public setting.
