The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join the Human Resource Services team as a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP).

Reporting to the Senior Director of HR Client Services, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) delivers value-added HR consultation and services to management and employees. Manages, administers, and provides day-to-day oversight of professional and support staff engaged in one or more core areas within the Human Resource Services Department. Oversees operations and strategic initiates related to areas of oversight, ensuring that services and programs support the Museum’s mission, values, and objectives. Ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations and quality standards. Oversees various project and initiatives related to process improvement, quality control of HRIS systems, records management, and client service. Provides consultative direction on best HR practices, researches and resolves complex issues, and ensures timely response to client needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including recruitment, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • The selected candidate must pass a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
