The City of Richmond is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources Coordinator to support the Human Resources Manager in the Richmond Police Department Personnel and Recruitment division. This role is integral to the HR operations, providing essential support in various departmental functions.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Recruitment Support: Assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, and onboarding new employees.
- Payroll Actions: Coordinate and process pay actions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with City HR policies.
- Policy Implementation: Aid in the development, communication, and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
- ADA/FMLA Oversight: Manage departmental ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) processes, ensuring compliance with legal and City HR standards.
- HR Support: Provide additional HR support to the HR Manager as assigned, contributing to various HR projects and initiatives.
Qualifications, Special Certifications, and Licenses:
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business/public administration or a field related to the assignment
- Two-three years of progressive experience in HR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge (some combination of the following):
- High level of comfort with HR disciplines
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office
- Experience with electronic databases and related software applications in HR
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Principles for providing customer service, including meeting quality standards for services and customer satisfaction
- Ability to work independently and proactively
Skills (some combination of the following):
- Analyzing and interpreting manuals and operating procedures
- Communicating with various internal and external departments
- Drafting and revising documents
- Performing various administrative and clerical procedures such as managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
- Maintaining strict confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Oral and written communication
