The City of Richmond, Department of Planning & Development Review, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Inspection Field Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising an assigned inspection unit and will be involved in training, scheduling, reviewing daily reports, and resolving escalated complaints and concerns.
Duties include, but are not limited to
- Performing in-field case reviews
- Periodically re-inspecting work to determine if proper action is being taken
- Initiating new cases and coordinating actions with other departments and vendors
- Scheduling and performing unit-specific inspections
- Managing/assigning case load work, and providing general oversight of work product and work activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and federal/state/local laws
- Supervising paraprofessional and support staff
- Assigning/scheduling inspections and other tasks
- Reviewing, preparing and creating reports, and other documentation, ensuring accuracy and correctness of information
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Inspection principles and practices, construction principles and practices and standard equipment and tools used in construction
- Skill in computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and database management software
- Ability to read and interpret applicable codes and regulations and visually inspect sites to confirm compliance with codes and regulations
Minimum Training and Experience
- High school graduation or GED
- Associate's Degree in engineering, building construction, or a related field is preferred
- Four years of inspection and/or plan review experience
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
Licensing, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements
- Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record within 30 days of hire
- Code Enforcement Inspection requires completion of all certifications required of the Code Enforcement Inspector
- Senior Site Inspection requires completion of all certifications required for Site Inspector
- Senior Construction Inspection requires completion of all certifications required of Construction Inspector
- Principal level Property Maintenance Enforcement requires completion of all certifications required of the Property Maintenance Enforcement Inspector
