As an intern in Mayor Levar Stoney’s Office, you will collaborate closely with Mayor’s Office staff on policy and administrative projects. The environment is fast-paced, where projects and priorities can shift daily. However, we are open to accommodating longer-term policy/research projects if you have a specific interest. This internship spans 10 weeks, offering flexibility for telework and/or in-person attendance. Start and end dates will be determined in consultation with the applicant.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to conduct rapid policy and legislative research (local, state, and federal)
- Analytical skills to evaluate policies and recommend solutions
- Attendance at City Council meetings and creation of summarized notes
- Proficiency in policy memo writing
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Time management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Internship Goals:
- Gain exposure to and understanding of local government decision-making complexities
- Provide swift policy and legislative recommendations based on research
- Enhance skills in policy analysis, memo writing, and communication within a local government framework
- Work on special policy and administrative projects as directed by the Deputy Chief of Staff and/or Legislative & Policy Management Analyst
