The primary responsibilities will be to execute a daily program for 8 members classes and their support aides. Program includes a topic of interest, presentation and discussion, fun activity associated with topics (art, music, science experiment, etc.), adaptive games and monthly field trips (adaptive adventures). This position reports to the Executive Director.


Typical duties of the Program Instructor include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, prepare, coordinate and lead daily class activities that maximizes engagement by students and aides
  • Identify and coordinate Adaptive Adventure (i.e. zoo trips, science museum trips, rock climbing, etc.) to provide unique experiences for Nest students
  • Ability to transform a topic of interest into engaging discussions and applying through other learning styles such as hands-on activities.
  • Ability to adapt presentation of subject content for students with significant disabilities
  • Effective & interactive classroom management skills
  • Utilize class space to form an environment conducive to learning and effectively uses instructional facilities, equipment and materials
  • Maintain a safe environment for all students, volunteers and classroom visitors especially from viral exposure
  • Maintain class attendance records and traceability
  • Provide weekly feedback to Nest leadership and student parents on classroom activities and student participation in both verbal and written form.
  • Maintain a rolling 12 month curriculum by leading a curriculum committee of student’s family members, Nest Leadership team and other community resources (i.e. teachers, therapists, etc.). Adaptation of most activities will be needed with the input of aides, parents, Nest Leadership team and consultative therapists
  • Develop a strong Nest parent community through class, family and parent activities
  • Participate as a team member of all Nest Fundraising events
  • Other duties as assigned
