The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation seeks an enthusiastic and relationally driven individual for the new role of Leadership Giving Officer. The selected candidate will play a key role in the cultivation and solicitation of donors to the museum’s Leadership Giving Societies, securing gifts which support the mission of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Responsibilities include the following as well as other related duties:

• Oversee and implement a comprehensive, donor-centered plan for the creation and stewardship of relationships with donors in the museum’s Leadership Giving Societies that encourage long-term engagement and increased giving.
• Play an active role in initiating conversations with new and previously unknown donors.
• Enthusiastically initiate and conduct 10-15 donor meetings monthly which compellingly convey the museum’s mission and priorities
• Actively solicit membership upgrades both in person and in writing
• Collaborate with the Annual Giving Officer on the Leadership Society membership renewal process, materials, and stewardship plan.
• Collaborate with other Advancement team members on donor cultivation strategies, gift solicitations, and stewardship initiatives.
• Partner with Donor Relations staff and volunteer leaders on philanthropic strategies for special membership groups and not-yet-members
• Utilize the Raisers Edge database to its fullest capacity to record interactions and track progress

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven success in fundraising and relationship-building
• High level of personal motivation, positivity, and a sense of urgency
• Displays ease in picking up the telephone, welcomes face-to-face contact, and smoothly navigates challenges such as successfully securing introductory visits with donors.
• Experience with collaborating proactively, strategically, and positively with diverse constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Previous experience in a museum, educational, or other nonprofit fundraising setting
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar database

Special Requirement:

• Selected candidates must pass a criminal history background check.
