The City of Richmond Public Library is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual to join its team as a Library Technician, Senior. This role involves acting as the lead for support services of an assigned location, providing direct services to the public and technical support for library operations. The selected candidate will be responsible for circulation services and will require some evening and weekend scheduling on a rotating basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Creating, updating, and maintaining library user records
- Issuing library cards and charging/discharging library materials
- Planning and directing daily workflow of circulation functions
- Providing information and assistance to library users
- Supervising and training circulation staff and volunteers
- Managing daily operation of the branch in the absence of the branch manager
- Performing financial and statistical reporting
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of library systems and procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and library software
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and handle cash
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Understanding of library circulation procedures and policies
- Experience with office equipment and electronic reading options
Minimum Training and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of public library-related support experience
- Equivalent combinations of training and experience approved by the department
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some college coursework or an Associate's degree
- Experience with SIRSI/DYNIX library circulation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software and social media
- Previous accounting and supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of automated databases for information retrieval
Licensing, Certifications, and Requirements:
- Some positions may require a valid driver's license
