The Richmond Public Library seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual to join its team as an entry-level Library Technician. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, an excellent communicator and listener, a team player, and a problem solver, dedicated to providing exceptional customer service. This position requires scheduling flexibility including some days, evenings, and weekends on a rotating basis.
Responsibilities:
- Provides customer service and performs circulation desk duties.
- Circulates library materials and assists patrons in finding materials and information.
- Processes returned materials, issues library cards, and updates accounts.
- Collects fees, operates cash registers, and counts funds for reports.
- Answers phones, emails, and sorts mail; assists with computer lab operations.
- Maintains library database records and shelves books and materials.
- Creates displays, flyers, and promotional materials; participates in library events.
Qualifications:
Minimum Training, Experience, and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of public library support experience
- Familiarity with clerical and support services; basic math skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites and standard office equipment.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to train volunteers and coordinate library events.
