The City of Richmond Community Services, Library - Division of Customer Service is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of part-time Library Technician. This role involves handling routine and advanced clerical tasks and providing support services for the City Library. Responsibilities include providing customer service, performing circulation desk duties, assisting patrons in finding materials or information, processing returned materials, managing library cards, handling fees, answering inquiries via phone or in-person, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing customer service and circulation desk duties
- Assisting patrons in locating materials or information
- Processing returned materials and managing library accounts
- Handling fees, opening/closing cash registers, and cash handling
- Maintaining computer databases for patrons and materials
- Shelving, sorting, and organizing library materials
- Participating in library-wide committees or projects
- Creating promotional materials and participating in staff development
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of clerical and support services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment
- Familiarity with cash register procedures and Dewey Decimal System
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to train and coordinate library events and programs
Minimum Training and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of public library-related support experience
Licensing, Certifications, and Requirements:
- Some positions may require a valid driver’s license
