The City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of Maintenance & Operations Crew Chief to work in the cemeteries.This position is responsible for overseeing labor crews in the maintenance of buildings and grounds.
Duties
This position is responsible for assigning work assignments, training, monitoring work performance, maintaining time sheets and leave records, etc. May also act as a working supervisor/lead worker by performing the most advanced work of those supervised or assisting with work as needed. Plans, coordinates and oversees projects, services, and procurement of human and material resources. Trains staff in job safety procedures and ensure procedures are followed. Transports crew members to job sites. Consistently monitors and provides oversight to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, safety, and compliance with standards. Schedules events and other work-related activities. Provides customer service to general public, visitors, and internal/external clients. Responds to telephonic, email, and in-person inquiries or complaints. Provides other customer service support such as: assisting customers with obtaining information or access to resources and vendors; investigating and resolving complaints, etc. Performs routine administrative duties including preparing reports. Assesses, coordinates, plans, and performs inspections/repairs such as structure/property inspections; inspects equipment/vehicles for deterioration, damage, and malfunctions; inspects lines and pipes, etc.; Identifies critical issues and determines appropriate steps to resolve them. This position will be responsible for landscaping and workforce development.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of applicable local codes and ordinances, forecasting and planning and safety rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated skills operating heavy equipment, communicating effective orally and written, people management, training and customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to self manage, problem solve, organize and communicate with a diverse population.
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of college or specialized training in area of focus
- Two years of equipment operation/driving experience or maintenance experience in the area related to assignment
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification Valid Virginia Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
