The incumbent is responsible for performing routine grounds and maintenance duties and assisting with special projects and other required tasks.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting other personnel in performing various tasks and special projects as required.
- Assisting with snow removal as needed.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
- Maintains grounds including cutting lawn, trimming branches, removing debris.
- Conducts equipment maintenance such as service requests.
- Provides routine and heavy cleaning tasks.
- Provides minor repairs.
- Operates a variety of machines and equipment.
- Handles traffic control, as needed.
- Assists with snow and ice removal.
- Collects, clears, and picks up debris and trash from designated spaces.
- Assists with various events, including event set-up and tear-down.
- Assists citizens as needed.
- Performs facility checks and inspections, if applicable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (or some combination of the following):
- Equipment and tools in the area of focus.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education sufficient for satisfactory job performance.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- No prior work experience.
- One (1) year of work experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a valid driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license within 30 days of hire.
