The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities - Richmond Gas Works is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Management Analyst Associate in the Corrosion group. The selected candidate will provide support for daily functions related to Corrosion, including data gathering, compiling, fundamental analysis, and developing recommendations and reports for supervisors/managers. Responsibilities will also involve reviewing and entering data into multiple systems, as well as communicating with office and field personnel for system updates and compliance data. 


Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collecting daily reports from field personnel and analyzing, scanning, filing, and entering pipe condition reports into compliance software.
  • Maintaining and organizing both digital and hardcopy filing systems for current work orders and surveys in the Corrosion department.
  • Assisting with maintaining the AOC (Area of Concern) database by reviewing, merging, and purging outdated data, and comparing data from completed and open work orders.
  • Reviewing data from other software (Safety Culture) for compliance with Corrosion and other inspections, as well as generating reports from the same dataset.
  • Running reports as needed for management on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Assisting with GIS updates and review.
  • Reviewing corrosion surveys and making updates as necessary.

As an Essential employee, incumbents in this role are required to work during city closures due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.


Qualifications, Special Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other database management software.
  • Knowledge of database management principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools and software.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely completion of data entry tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Analytical skills to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and protocols for data entry.
  • Effective multitasking abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new software and tools as required.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience in data analysis.

Licensing, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements:

  • A valid Driver's License or a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License is required within 30 days of hire.
