Description
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities is seeking a highly qualified and motivated professional with specialized financial abilities to assist the executive team. This position reports to the Accounting Supervisor in Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Finance Division.
Duties include but are not limited to
- Develop, implement, and monitor processes and procedures, identify any deficiencies/improvements to streamline processes.
- Provide training, supervision and support to staff as needed.
- Monitoring and analysis of utilities, fleet, equipment rental costs.
- Oversight of fixed asset and inventory tracking. Prepare paperwork to capitalize assets, perform regular physical inventories, monitoring asset utilization, tracking impairments and disposals, providing reports to managers, etc.
- Perform reconciliations for all funds, revenues, and expenses. Comparing records, identifying discrepancies, researching transactions, maintain accurate records, and preparing reports.
- Oversight of databases and systems used in the department and ensuring they are being used properly.
- Oversight and implementation of disaster management/emergency response planning.
- Assist with the development of the Annual Budget and Five-Year Forecasts.
- Develop quarterly projections and present information to management, identifying and explaining overages, surpluses, etc.
- Tracking and reporting of performance measures.
- Perform audits to ensure various internal and Citywide policies and procedures are being followed. Example of audits include: p-card, equipment rental, fuel usage, etc.
- Develop monthly financial reports for various divisions in the department: funds available reporting, expense reporting, revenue reporting, etc.
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Analysis and reporting of data; Background in planning, policy, land use, environment, equity, and/or project management; Ordinances, government regulations, agency rules, and the legislative process; Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Mapping. Skills should include Analyzing complex issues; Communicating with various internal and external departments and organizations; Drafting and revising documents and reports; Managing multiple priorities and deadlines; Preparing forecasts, reports, analyses for special projects; Navigating city processes; Oral and written communication Also requires the ability to be Adaptable: Make decisions; Multi-task; Problem solve; Work in teams
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, finance, accounting, or a field related to assignment.
- Four years of professional experience in an area related to assignment,
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification

The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions; frequently reach and finger; and occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, push, pull, lift, walk, grasp, and feel. The working conditions may not include environmental hazards. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
