The Office of the City Attorney is seeking a full-time, permanent Paralegal or Senior Paralegal for its Operations and Development Division, in representation of the City’s Department of Public Utilities. The Department’s legal support needs are extensive and broad, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance, real property management, transactional matters, and customer service. The Department manages five City utilities: water, wastewater, storm-water, gas, and electric.
This position is Unclassified and serves at the will of the Appointing Authority.
This posting may be used to either fill with a Paralegal or a Senior Paralegal. The pay range for this position is $46,488.00 - $79,879.00 annually. The selected candidate's salary will be based on experience and qualifications illustrated in the completed application along with the required attachments.
Primary responsibilities will include transactional work such as contracts and real estate.
Qualifications
- Experience in public utilities law, environmental law, regulatory law, or municipal law is desired.
- The candidate must be able to perform complex research; effectively gather factual information; and perform legal research that is not available through routine sources.
- Individual must possess good writing skills and the ability to work either independently or with a team, as appropriate.
The successful candidate will have a Paralegal certificate, Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies; Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or other discipline; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Training and Experience
- Experience with Public Utilities Law.
- Experience with transactional work, such as contracts and real estate Experience with environmental, regulatory or municipal law. Microsoft Office Suite experience.
- Considerable knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong ability to conduct legal research.
- Strong ability to communicate with various internal and external departments.
- Keen ability to pay attention to details and ability to remain organized.
