The City of Richmond, Office of the City Attorney is seeking to fill the position of Paralegal for its Operations and Development Division. The purpose of the position is to provide assistance to attorneys in the Operations and Development Division with transactional matters involving real estate, land use, and economic development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Transactional work in the areas of real estate, land use, and economic development
- Support multiple attorneys
- Manage numerous assignments simultaneously
- Work independently
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in real estate law, land use law, economic development law, or municipal law
- Paralegal certificate, an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies, a Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or other discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong written and verbal skills
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Investigation
- Research
- Legal documentation preparation
- Coordinating and scheduling legal actions
- Compiling and organizing documents and exhibits
- Drafting routine and specialized documents
- Maintaining departmental filing systems
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Paralegal certificate
- Associates degree in Paralegal Studies
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or other discipline
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
Licensing, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements:
- Compliance with additional requirements that may be established by the City of Richmond
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
