A candidate who is reliable, trustworthy, passionate, energetic and committed to ensure smooth execution and development of programs. Must enjoy and be willing to work at an emerging non-profit. This position will be responsible for developing food drives, building the volunteer corps, staff additional site and apart from the Executive Director be the point of contact for operational and administrative tasks throughout the assigned hours of 8:30am-4pm, Monday- Friday. Occasional Saturday and evening availability required throughout the year.


Core responsibilities:


  • Responsible for directing the day to day delivery operations of the organization.
  • Building bags both shelf stable and perishables in the absence of volunteers, make confirmation and reminders ahead of deliveries.
  • Make food deliveries to households as needed weekly
  • Manage inventory of non perishable and perishable items
  • Order and pick up inventory of purchased food as needed for daily and community food distributions
  • Train in client intake and routing
  • Assist with HCFB community distributions and oversee food distributions and related volunteer activities (4/5 times a year)
  • Oversee and staff the HCFB Community Pantry at the Oak Avenue Complex and others as needed.
  • Train and manage food delivery and pantry volunteers and staff as applicable.
  • Food sourcing – research best prices for both perishable and nonperishable food inventory and order as needed.
Administrative duties:
  • Manage staff and oversee staff as applicable.
  • Manage, train and oversee onsite volunteer packers and delivery driver volunteers.
  • Learn and maintain client and inventory databases (Link2Feed and other).
  • Create client intake and daily route sheets.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and training.

Outreach:

  • With the Executive Director, assist with outreach efforts to publicize the work of HCFB, create funding streams and grow community support for the organization in churches, associations, schools and businesses.
  • Assist and bring on new food drive partners and sponsors thus creating a food drive pipeline.
  • Stay connected with food drive sponsors and build relationships.
  • Help create an overall strategic plan for food drives and distributions along with the Executive Director.

Other:

  • Work alongside the Executive Director, Board, Youth Corps and Young Professional Corps to implement the mission of the organization.
  • Work with the Executive Director to design strategy, distributions and community engagement.

Required Qualifications
  • Reliable and trustworthy and willing to invest time in an emerging non-profit. 
  • Physically able to lift 40lbs. Willing to use a reliable personal vehicle on the job. 
  • Excellent time and project management skills with the willingness to be hands-on to get the job done. 
  • Unafraid of change and fluid environments. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills. 
  • A self starter who will take the initiative to create every opportunity to market the organization to showcase the mission, food and fund drives. 
  • A people cultivator, client-centric personality, grounded in the mission with the ability to embrace and work with a diverse population. 
  • Committed to organizational values. Values driven and equity focused. 
  • Able to work onsite daily. 
  • Available to assist the occasional evenings and weekends throughout the year as needed. 
  • Excited by change and growth in a grassroots organization. 
  • Experience and Educational Profile College degree or unique lived or professional experience, willing to put in effort to build and grow a new community resource. 
  • A clean driving record. 
  • Ability to use a personal vehicle on the job daily. 
  • Drive a company van/small U-Haul on the job as needed. 
  • Lifting and moving up to 40 pounds, ability to stand for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to work in a constantly fluid environment.
