The City of Richmond, Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Recreation Services Supervisor for its Therapeutic Recreation Services division. This position will oversee the development and delivery of therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with disabilities in Richmond.


Duties & Responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision: Manage, train, and supervise full-time, temporary, and intern staff. Collaborate with the Recreation Services Manager to set goals and work plans.
  • Budget and Financials: Recommend program budget and manage grant applications. Monitor program expenditures and prepare statistical reports.
  • Programming: Plan, coordinate, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs. Research community needs and develop strategic partnerships.
  • Training: Develop and facilitate training opportunities for staff on disability, accessibility, and inclusion topics.

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in Therapeutic Recreation delivery in a community or recreation setting.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Special Requirements:

  • Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certification.
  • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire.

This role requires a passionate individual with extensive experience in therapeutic recreation, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to inclusive community programming.
