The Clinical Nutrition Levels I and II are responsible for competently providing and documenting nutrition care to patients within their practice area.
Requirements for Hire:
- Registered as a Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Clinical Nutrition I: May be registry eligible, but must pass the RD exam within the first 6 months of employment
- Clinical Nutrition II: Advancement required one year after passing the RD exam
Continued Employment Requirements:
- Maintenance of Registered Dietitian status with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- CPR training for outpatient clinic practitioners
Experience:
- Clinical Nutrition I: Less than one (1) year of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting
- Clinical Nutrition II: One or more years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in an acute care setting (unless grandfathered in under previous position requirements)
Preferred Experience:
- Clinical Nutrition II: Counseling experience in acute care or outpatient settings, particularly within outpatient clinical areas
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university
Preferred Education/Training:
- Specialty certification in the area of practice for outpatient positions
- Certification in Training (Adult Weight Management, Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management)
- Motivational interview training
- Experience with clinical research protocols
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting nutrition care activities as per departmental policies and procedures
- Communication with healthcare teams and patient food service managers
- Provision of in-services to staff
Additional Requirements:
- Weekend availability as assigned
- Ability to work in diverse environments
- Adherence to the Code of Ethics for the profession of dietetics
- Willingness to travel to satellite clinics as needed
Physical Requirements:
