General Description:

The School Nutrition Services Delivery Driver/Utility role is responsible for the safe and efficient transport

of department property, including prepared meals, supplies, small equipment, and frozen or dry goods.

Operating primarily on a predetermined route, this position requires a reliable individual who can

seamlessly adapt to ad-hoc requests, schedule changes and unforeseen delivery needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs all duties, assignments, transfers, courier service and routes as assigned by the School

Nutrition Services Central Office team.

Operate a division vehicle to various locations to pick up and deliver School Nutrition Services

food, supplies, and property.

Loads insulated food transport containers or carts, cases of food and supplies, small equipment,

and heavy equipment into a van and delivers it to schools within the time allowed for that route.

Places food deliveries into cooler, freezer, dry storage, or warmer at the school cafeteria as

requested by the Cafeteria Manager or designees.

Occasionally assists with the organizing, rotation, and storage of perishable and non-perishable

food and supplies to stock items in the event of equipment failures or warehousing for storage.

Upholds sanitation standards to guarantee that all food deliveries arrive safely, on time, and at

peak quality.

Operates delivery van in a safe, courteous, and professional manner, Ensures compliance with

traffic laws and vehicle safety guidelines.

Ability to use a hydraulic lift-gate, hand dolly, and other aids to transport property.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent.
5 years of custodial, bus driving, warehouse driver, or delivery experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively with internal and external

stakeholders.

Strong organizational skills and ease at managing competing demands and determining priorities

independently.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic digital literacy, including the ability to regularly check, read, and respond to email

communications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees must possess sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to successfully perform all

assigned duties. This role requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, load, and unload

cargo up to 20 pounds independently, periodically moving up to 50 pounds, and occasionally

lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance. High stamina is essential for frequent standing, walking,

and climbing in and out of the delivery van 100 to 200 times per shift, alongside frequent

bending, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching overhead. Required sensory capabilities

include close, distance, peripheral, and depth-perception vision for safe driving, as well as the

auditory and vocal skills necessary to hear safety warnings and clearly communicate with team

members, distributors, and division stakeholders. Additionally, the position demands the

cognitive clarity to read, follow, and interpret written, oral, schedule, and diagrammatic

instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in a dynamic setting that shifts daily across multiple school locations,

encompassing both indoor institutional kitchens and outdoor transit conditions. Employees are

regularly exposed to a variety of environmental factors, including extreme outdoor weather

during transit, kitchen heat, and extreme cold within walk-in coolers and freezer units. The

workplace involves consistent exposure to water, steam, slippery surfaces, machinery

vibrations, and the elevated noise levels of a bustling, student-centered school cafeteria. Tasks

are executed under minimal direct supervision, requiring sustained physical effort over extended

periods and a flexible ability to remain highly responsive to changing logistical and operational

demands.
