The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse employee community. We are currently seeking a composed and attentive individual to join our Security Services Department as a Security Associate Supervisor.
Position Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between internal departments, contractors, visitors, and Security Services resources.
- Monitor premises for activities requiring a security response.
- Provide guidance and coordination to ensure cooperative completion of duties for all Security Associates.
Additional Duties Include:
- Ensure Security Associates are informed of any policy or procedural changes.
- Stay updated on VMFA exhibitions and security assignments.
- Seek and document feedback from Security Associates for operational improvements.
- Review and evaluate completed logs and forms.
- Coordinate regular training for Security Associate operations.
- Maintain Security Associate schedule.
- Respond promptly to requests for assistance from various departments.
- Apply mature judgment during highly stressful situations.
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant software.
- Stock and produce necessary forms, calendars, and maps.
- Conduct research and compile information for emergencies.
- Review departmental notifications about special events/contractor arrangements.
- Comply with all instructions from supervisors and adhere to departmental policies.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of customer service principles, practices, and methods.
- Familiarity with laws, rules, and regulations related to unarmed security officers.
- Understanding of loss prevention programs.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Proficiency in using various computer applications.
- Leadership qualities to ensure successful achievement of department goals.
- Mental alertness and attention to detail.
- Physical abilities including hand-eye coordination, handling sensitive information, and remaining constantly alert.
Additional Considerations:
- Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations for unarmed and armed security officers.
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or cultural institution security.
- Previous public safety dispatcher experience.
- Current registration from the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
