The Social Casework Coordinator position offers an opportunity to provide direct management services, identify client needs, and coordinate community resources. The role involves delivering individual and/or group supportive services, including mentoring, advocacy, and case management to juvenile clients and their families. The position falls under the Youth Justice Program, closely collaborating with the courts, law enforcement agencies, public schools, and other community organizations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine eligibility for services and administer needs assessments.
  • Manage active caseloads of youth referred by the courts, schools, and community agencies.
  • Provide client/family engagement interventions.
  • Coordinate vendor and community resources to address emergency and ongoing needs of families.
  • Facilitate programming, including juvenile educational groups and orientation with parents/guardians.
  • Network with partnering agencies and organizations for community outreach.

Qualifications, Special Certifications, and Licenses:


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of laws and legal procedures related to case management, human services programs, enforcement of policies, and community relations.
  • Familiarity with family law and expertise in using case management and reporting techniques, computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic databases.
  • Demonstrated skill in administration and management operations, program planning and evaluation, data collection and management, conflict resolution, public speaking, and business/technical report writing.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations, multitask, interpret and apply relevant policies, problem solve, think critically, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Human Services, Social Services, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Services preferred.
  • Three years of human services or social casework paraprofessional experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Licensing, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements:

  • A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
  • A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to pass Child Protective Services Background Check.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening.
