The Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP) is a statewide initiative that helps health care providers take better care of children and adolescents with mental health conditions through provider education and increasing access to child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and care navigators. MSVF is the Contract Administrator for VMAP and collaborates with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, the Virginia Department of Health, and numerous other partners to expand the program statewide through the establishment of five regional hubs that will deliver the key program goals.
The Medical Society of Virginia Foundation (MSVF) is seeking a Sr. Data and Evaluation Manager that will provide data analysis and management, evaluation, and research support to the Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP). This position is responsible for data collection and analysis, reporting, program evaluation, communication, data-informed education, process planning and mobilization. The successful candidate will show initiative and self-leadership, are collegial and work well with others, and can function in a dynamic environment. VMAP is a collaborative program supported through state general funds appropriated to the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services and federal grant funds through the Virginia Department of Health. As such, it is expected this candidate will also work collaboratively with both entities.
Responsibilities:
- Support Program Director and Assistant Director of Operations by providing expertise and recommendations on research, assessment, and evaluation.
- Collect and assess data from regional VMAP teams, patient/provider activities and interpret resulting outcomes.
- Develop, maintain, monitor, and disseminate data collection tools and instrumentation for the program.
- Maintain and monitor the needs of the program using multiple types of databases including Salesforce.
- Develop, evaluate, and manage program benchmarks and performance measures as requested by internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare program data for evaluation and dissemination, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly program dashboards, reports, and presentations.
- Present program findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess program data to identify gaps, underserved populations and barriers particularly with respect to behavioral health equity.
- Prepare communication/data dissemination materials to support legislative and program decision-making.
- Provide technical assistance and training to VMAP team staff regarding VMAP database usage, data entry and data collection best practices.
- Lead role in tracking encounters and outcomes as well as the project activities related to the performance data required by funders.
- Develop quality assurance, evaluation and data analysis plans to ensure high quality of VMAP data.
- Participate in Rapid Cycle Quality Improvement (RCQI) activities; conduct monthly quality assurance checks on VMAP program data alongside Assistant Director of Operations.
- Conduct and coordinate descriptive and analytical studies, program evaluations, cost-benefit analyses, and research projects; interpret data from multiple sources.
- Lead development and publishing of VMAP’s Annual Impact Report which includes yearly program impact and outcome data analysis.
- Lead VMAP’s Quality Improvement and Evaluation Committee.
- Participate in grant writing and reporting activities as needed.
- Participate in VMAP workgroups for various analytic related topics.

- Master’s degree with 2-4 years of experience or bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years of experience in data analysis and management, evaluation, and research support.
- Knowledge of public health methodologies, program evaluation and research methods.
- Experience using data collection and analysis tools, e.g., Salesforce, SPSS, REDCap, R CRM, CRM-A, Tableau.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with stakeholders, partners, and the general public.
- Ability to research scientific literature and apply findings to the solution of problems.
- Demonstrate effective problem solving and decision-making.
- Experience managing a team.
