The City of Richmond Department of Economic Development is looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to make an impact on the city and our community. Joining this dynamic team requires a progressive thinker who wants to work in close collaboration with the Deputy Chief Administration Officer to manage complex real estate projects throughout the city.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Economic Development, and in close collaboration with the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Planning and Economic Development, the Sr. Real Estate Development Manager is responsible for:
- Managing and coordinating highly complex and sensitive real estate development projects for the City and EDA.
- Assisting in the creation of solicitation documents and collateral material to attract qualified development teams.
- Participating in the evaluation of development proposals to advance the City’s redevelopment objectives.
- Negotiating development agreements and associated documents.
- Providing detailed project management for all development on City and EDA owned land.
- Developing budgets and resources needed for real estate development projects.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for development teams selected.
- Acting as a liaison between the Department of Economic Development and the Department of Planning and Development Review.
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses:
SKILLS:
- Ability to read and understand construction documents.
- Knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and issues in real estate transactional documents.
- Detail-oriented project management skills.
- Experience using project management software and construction management tools.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional financial modeling skills.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate, Business, or related field, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of real estate development experience; Master's degree preferred.
- Eight years of professional construction/project management experience.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Some assignments may require a Professional Engineering (PE) Registration or licensure as an Architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Some assignments may require a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
