Responsibilities
The Virginia Department of Transportation’s ( VDOT ) is excited to offer and announce a competitive opportunity to serve as the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Planner in the Central Office’s Transportation and Mobility Planning Division ( TMPD ). This position will be located in Richmond, Virginia. The selected candidate will support the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Program through active transportation planning and coordination, partnering with other VDOT Divisions and Districts, State agencies, and other stakeholders, technical assistance, public outreach, and other activities as required.
Position Specific Core Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead planner for the Virginia Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Program and VDOT point of contact ( POC ) for active transportation planning and coordination
- Serve as the subject matter expert for active transportation and related topics, and provide general technical assistance and support to internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate the quarterly Statewide Bicycle Advisory Committee ( BPAC ) meetings, and represent VDOT on committees, workgroups, and meetings, to include the Virginia State Trails Advisory Committee ( STAC ) and FHWA State Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinators meetings
- Serve as project manager for development of active transportation related studies, plans, policies, research, and other guidance or efforts
- Perform other tasks as required in administration and support of the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Program
