The City of Richmond Department of Information Technology is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Technology Engineer/Administrator - Server. The selected individual will primarily focus on enterprise messaging (Microsoft Exchange) within a hybrid federated environment supported by VMware 5.5, 7 virtual data-center, and storage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and administer Microsoft Exchange 2016 at an advanced level.
- Administer Microsoft Windows and Active Directory.
- Administer VMware.
- Administer SAN (Storage Area Network).
- Maintain disaster and business continuity programs.
Additional Duties:
- Serve as an Essential employee, requiring availability during City closures due to emergencies, critical conditions, or inclement weather.
- Provide on-call support 24/7 for leadership and problem resolution of critical systems and applications within the City of Richmond portfolio.
Qualifications, Special Certifications, and Licenses:
- Considerable knowledge in Ethernet, backup and disaster recovery management, IT architecture, telephony, IT infrastructure library.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Active Directory, Office365, and Teams.
- Competence in computer software related to the area of focus.
- Familiarity with various technologies in the area of focus (storage, backup, restoration).
- Project management skills.

- Analyzing, planning, installing, testing, tracking, implementing, documenting, fixing, and tuning software and hardware systems.

Minimum Training and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- Two years of journey-level professional systems and network engineering experience.

- Designing, configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, administering, and maintaining systems and devices (specific to Microsoft Exchange).
- Change management experience.
