Description
The City of Richmond Department of Information Technology is seeking to fill a Technology Engineer/Administrator Network position. The selected candidate will focus on enterprise infrastructure patch management and vulnerability remediation.
Duties include but are not limited to
- Patch management infrastructure systems.
- Enterprise network security for internal and external network
- Administration of all IPS/IDS network devices
- Administration of all internal and external firewalls
- Administration of DR and failover network locations
Incumbents serves as an Essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the City is closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather
The incumbent in this position is required to serve on-call 24 hours/7 days a week to provide leadership for the support and resolution of problems for critical systems and applications within the assigned City of Richmond portfolio.
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Level of knowledge of Cisco routers and switches
- Level of knowledge of wireless configuration and security
- Level of knowledge on firewall configuration and security
- Considerable fundamental knowledge of network topology and operations
- Basic understanding of network security as it relates to IPS/IDS
- Project management, including task completion, documentation, and collaboration
- Team work
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Five years' experience in network solutions and/or architecture
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
PREFERRED LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Cisco Network Certifications
- CompTIA Network Certifications
PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Designing, configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, administering, and maintaining system and devices (specific to enterprise level network)
- Change management
- Diagnosing, researching, and resolving issues in area of focus
