The City of Richmond's Department of Public Utilities - Customer Service Field Operations Division is seeking qualified candidates to fill two (2) Utilities Tech Services Specialist positions. These individuals will be responsible for dispatching service orders and handling phone inquiries from internal and external customers. Candidates selected will work either the 12:00 am to 8:00 am or the 4:00 pm to 12:00 am shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering both emergency and non-emergency service calls.
- Generating and dispatching service orders to appropriate crews.
- Monitoring and managing service order workloads and completion.
- Creating and submitting daily reports to management.
- Staffing sheet preparation and managing daily technician/field crew staffing.
- Maintaining records of employee call-outs and vacations for proper staffing.
Additional Details:
This position is considered Essential Personnel, requiring incumbents to work during City closures due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather. Flexibility in working nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call is necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), CIS - Banner, Service Suite, and Miss. Utility.
- Demonstrated skills in scheduling staff, customer service, and using standard office equipment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently, follow procedures, problem-solve, and make decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in emergency communications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in Field Service Order Completion is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- At least three (3) years of customer service/emergency communications experience.
