The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities Customer Service Field Operations Division is hiring for two (2) Utilities Tech Services Specialist positions. The chosen candidates will undertake responsibilities including dispatching service orders and handling phone inquiries from both internal and external customers.
Candidates will work the evening shift from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am.
Key duties include:
- Answering both emergency and non-emergency service calls
- Generating and dispatching service orders to appropriate crews
- Monitoring service order progress and completion
- Compiling and submitting various daily reports
- Managing daily staffing of technicians/field crews
- Maintaining records of employee schedules
These positions are classified as Essential Personnel, requiring incumbents to work during city closures due to emergencies, critical conditions, or inclement weather. Flexibility regarding night shifts, weekends, holidays, or on-call duties may be necessary.
Qualifications, Special Certifications, and Licenses
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), CIS - Banner, Service Suite, and Miss. Utility
- Strong scheduling, customer service, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, problem solve, and make decisions independently
Minimum Training and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience as approved by the department
Licensing, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements:
- None
Preferred Training and Experience:
- Background in emergency communications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- At least three (3) years of customer service/emergency communications experience
- Experience in Field Service Order Completion is advantageous
