Description
The Vice President of Operations is an organized manager effectively and efficiently overseeing VECF operations in order to accomplish the mission of stewarding Virginia’s promise for early childhood success. The Vice President must be capable of scaling up, scaling down and driving change for statewide programs, while working across the organization and the statewide network of early childhood stakeholders to ensure quality and credibility. Crucially, this person must be able to think in the big picture, love getting into the details, cultivate partnerships, and be flexible when circumstances change.
This person will work out of our conveniently located office in Richmond, Virginia and will have professional development opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
- Scaling up and down programs – Virginia is investing in early childhood education and entrusts VECF with large scale grant administration. Program funding levels may increase and decrease by multi millions of dollars each year. This role will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations and/or changing operational processes when necessary to support the new and/or shifting directives and funding from VECF stakeholders.
- Implementation and Driving Change – Ensure the proposed vision is implemented on the ambitious timelines; troubleshoot and identify needed course corrections for successful implementation of operations processes.
- Communication – Connect with, persuade, cast vision, and periodically correct key implementation partners, always keeping the mission front and center for all involved.
- Tactical Operations – Manage and ensure smooth operations of key functions and processes with the support of existing staff.
- Improvement – Problem-solve and strategically plan for present and future quality assurance, efficiency, and accountability.
- IT Security and Risk Management: Develop and maintain controls to manage sensitive data, promote information security, and protect the privacy of all stakeholders. Manage the relevant System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type 2 Audit to identify and remediate security and information technology risks.
- Leadership and People Management: Oversee the Human Resources function for the organization; serve as supervisor to the finance and operations team members and participate on the VECF executive leadership team.
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in related or specialty field.
- 5+ years proven track record of successfully working in complex projects and multi-million-dollar budget management and with a team of professionals.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; including experience with public speaking.
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to meet strict timeframes.
- Ability to successfully work with diverse populations, including those economically at-risk.
- Proficient technology skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of proven success in project management and budget management.
- Experience working with adult learners.
- Knowledge of early care, education and community systems at the local, state and/or federal level.
- Master’s degree or advanced credential in related or specialty field.
