The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the department, assisting with daily operations, and providing high-level customer service to the public. The incumbent will manage the recruitment, education, training, supervision, and retention of volunteers to support the efficient operation of the shelter. This role involves developing and coordinating all aspects of RACC’s volunteer programs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and promotes a wide range of volunteer opportunities.
  • Recruits, interviews, and assigns volunteers.
  • Hosts and attends recruiting events within the community.
  • Develops and conducts volunteer orientation and training.
  • Manages volunteer policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Supervises volunteers and coordinates all volunteer functions.
  • Develops job descriptions and schedules volunteer activities.
  • Identifies community outreach opportunities and supports events.
  • Assesses and evaluates volunteer programs for effectiveness.
  • Maintains volunteer program records and prepares reports.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with volunteer organizations.

Qualifications:


Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, business/public administration, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of volunteer coordinator/management experience.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of municipal animal control agencies and volunteer programs.
  • Skills in problem solving, basic computer applications, and management.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
